How to Track a Cell Phone Easily, Quickly, And Safely

Few objects we have as valuable as our telephone and we do not talk about what you paid for it. Those devices contain our entire lives, and losing them can be the beginning of a bitter experience (Track a Cell Phone Easily).

In them, we carry photographs, access to accounts and social networks, contacts, documents, and all kinds of sensitive information; our digital life is there.

That is why it is always useful to know how to track a cell phone quickly, regardless of whether you are an iOS or Android user. These are some of the alternatives.

If you have a smartphone, consider installing the apps listed below. There are several options, but you can also configure any localization software included from the factory on your device. That includes Apple’s Find My iPhone, Google’s Find My Device, and Samsung’s Find My Mobile.

If you are looking for more options, try the ones that we detail below. And if you don’t have a state-of-the-art device, you will be surprised to know that there are also alternatives for older models.

1. Smartphones

a. Prey

Its use is free for three devices, it has the option of payment to access more features, and the service can be used on computers and cell phones. After creating an account, you have to sync your devices and relax.

The day your phone is lost, all you have to do is log into a computer and locate it.

The application works discreetly on the smartphone and will not locate your phone until you command it, so there is no need to worry about privacy while the phone is in your possession. We recommend it for any Android or iOS device, and Mac, Windows, or Linux computers.

b. Avast Antivirus & Security

The Avast name should sound familiar to many PC users. The app is more of a complete package, offering virus detection and protection, backup and power-saving options, as well as anti-theft options.

You can remotely lock or wipe your smartphone and listen remotely, among many other options. You can also turn on stealth mode on your device, so no thief knows Avast protects your phone.

Avast also provides SIM card change notifications and modifications, and the company offers similar services for Android, Mac, and PC. Avast offers an all-in-one application for protecting devices against viruses and thieves, as long as you are willing to pay for the premium service.

c. Lookout

It is available on iOS and Android and offers security, device tracking, and antivirus.

It has other exciting options, such as recording the location of the device before the battery runs out, the opportunity to save information before the information disappears by remote commands, and even send a photo of the alleged thief along with the location.

It’s free, but you can hire the Premium version for $30 per year or the Premium Plus for $100 per year.

2. Other devices

We recommend using a GPS tracking service. There are many different options, but AccuTracking is our favorite.

AccuTracking

And when the day comes when you can’t find your phone, log into the AccuTracking web interface from any computer connected to the Internet. As long as your phone is not dead, it will show you its location immediately.

The service offers a free trial and four plans that cost $13, $16, $21, and $26 per month, updating every 120, 60, 30, and 15 seconds, respectively.

3. How to track a cell phone after losing it

If you didn’t have the foresight to install a device recovery app on your phone before you lost it, don’t worry. There are still some easy ways to get it back.

a. Find My Device

Android users can use Find My Device. Because it is a Google service, it links to a Google account, and you can locate any device associated with it.

There are also options to lock a device, remotely reset the PIN, and erase stored data. You can even add a recovery message or phone number to the lock screen to increase your chances of recovering it, or ask your device to play a sound if it is nearby.

b. Find My iPhone

If you own an iPhone, you can use the Find My iPhone app. This feature has been a part of iOS since version 5, so there is no need to download an app.

It works with iCloud to be accessed through a browser or other iOS device, and the device’s location will be displayed on a map, along with the option to show where it has been.

You can remotely lock the phone, display an emergency message, or erase stored data if the phone has been lost forever.

If you are one of those who do not use smartphones, you are out of luck… If you did not register your phone with AccuTracking or a similar service beforehand, you would have no choice but to call your service provider and wait for them to help you.

Most providers offer GPS location services for a reasonable fee, so if your phone is enabled, sometimes it is just a matter of activating the GPS chip.

4. Track someone else’s cell phone (with their permission)

Before using this option, remember that you have the option of calling and asking where that person is. But remember that there is a possibility that the individual in question is lying to you.

So, if you don’t trust that person you want to locate, this is what we recommend: Your smartphone-equipped friends can use several different location-sharing apps, so you know where they are.

Facebook and Twitter have location check-in features, and Swarm has some very robust location sharing features. However, we have other favorite apps for you to take a look at:

a. Google maps

If you want to know the movements of a friend or family member, you probably already have the tools to do so, since Google Maps allows you to share location in real-time. Just open Google Maps and tap on the three stripes menu at the top left.

Then choose Share location. You can choose to share your site via the people icon with the plus sign in the upper right corner.

You can choose to share your area for a limited period or until you disable the feature. Anyone you share your location with will see your icon on the map when you open Google Maps.

b. Find My Friends

Our favorite app for keeping track of people’s whereabouts is Find My Friends. It is available for iOS and Android. Although the two applications are not from the same developer, they offer the same service.

It allows you to track multiple people simultaneously, which can come in handy when you’re trying to meet a large group.

c. iMessage and Google Hangouts

If you are an iOS user and trying to meet a friend, as long as both of you use iMessage, you can choose to share your location through it. Google’s Hangouts app has a similar feature and is available on Android and iOS.

The app even searches for phrases like “Where are you?” And then it will automatically suggest you share your location.

5. Operator apps

Several significant networks also provide phone tracking services, under the guise of friend and family locators.

AT&T has its Secure Family, Sprint has Safe & Found, Verizon offers Smart Family, and T-Mobile has the FamilyWhere app. These services come with a free trial, but you will have to pay a subscription to continue using them.

6. Track someone’s cell phone (without their permission)

It is always best to be direct about tracking someone and respecting their right to privacy. Still, if – for whatever reason – it is necessary to trace a phone without the consent or knowledge of its owner (concerned parent), here there are some tips on how to do it.

a. Track a smartphone user

This tracking is relatively straightforward using the above methods. If they are under a certain age, then they will use their Google or Apple account, so you can log into the Find My Device or Find My iPhone services and see the location of the phone on a map.

You can also use Find My Friends. If those options don’t work for you, then you’ll need to install a tracking app on the person’s phone. Aside from the ones we mentioned above, dozens of other apps will get the job done.

If you install an app and you don’t want them to notice, you may want to remove the app’s icon from the home screen and hide it in a folder.

b. Track a non-smartphone user

Tracking someone who doesn’t use a smartphone is a bit more complicated. If your phone is GPS-enabled, install AccuTracking on it. Follow all the necessary steps to set up the account and make sure it works. Again, you’ll need to hide the app icon in a folder if you don’t want to be noticed.

And since you are already looking for protection for your mobile device, why not take a look at our list of the best free antivirus for your PC? You will not regret it.
